Dietary & Restaurant Dining Protocol
Managing vegetarian, non-vegetarian, or jain meals, water, and table manners.
Feeding 42 Indian students in Germany can be challenging, as traditional vegetarian or Jain food is rare. We have pre-booked specific dining halls. This checklist avoids dietary slip-ups and ensures professional behavior.
📝 Task checklist
Understand water classificationsCritical
German restaurants charge for bottled water. In hotels, 'Leitungswasser' (tap water) is 100% safe, clean, and free. Fill your bottles from room taps.
Sit at pre-assigned food tables
Tables are categorized: Veg, Jain, and Non-Veg. Do not shift seats after mapping is done.
German Table Manners checklist
Forks on the left, knives on the right. Keep elbows off the table. Never shout to grab the attention of restaurant waiters.
Allergy validation with chefCritical
Show the German allergy cards (provided by Tripess) to restaurant managers to verify nut/dairy contamination.
Confirm payment and tipping status
Group meals are pre-booked. Double-check if local service tips of 5-10% are built into the invoice.
Supervise buffet portions
Educate students: Take small bounds of food first. Wasting food is highly frowned upon in Germany.
